We recently received an email about a new survival horror game seeking funding through Kickstarter called Lamentum.

Lamentum is a pixel art survival horror game inspired by classic survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, with a story and world inspired by Lovecraft’s stories.

You play as a young aristocrat named Victor, who heads into the sinister Grau Hill Mansion in search of a cure for a rare disease.

While it’s hard to judge how Lovecraftian the story will be from the trailer, it’s definitely dark and unsettling, with a disturbing atmosphere created through its environments and enemy designs.

According to the Kickstarter page, it will include a variety of weapons to use against enemies, as well as tools and inventory management, which suggests the sort of puzzles you’d expect from a traditional survival horror game. It also sounds as though it will be somewhat choice-driven, with your decisions determining which of the game’s multiple endings you get.

Lamentum is planned for a PC release in Q1 2020, followed by a Switch release in Q2 2020, and then a PS4 and Xbox One release in Q4 2020. If you’re interested in learning more, check out the page for its Kickstarter campaign.
