As October approaches, a new entry in the Hunter’s Journals interactive fiction series has been announced for a Halloween release.
The latest entry is Wyrmwood, the first of three games that will take place in and around the Capital. It features a story in which wooden items of all kinds are possessed, with a conspiracy at the heart that the player attempts to track down. This will likely be one of the entries with only light Lovecraftian influences.
Like its predecessors, it will feature interactive fiction gameplay with dice-based combat and a strong emphasis on consequences from choices. The Trait and Heirloom systems from the past few games will return, as well.
Here’s an exclusive look at one of the pieces of art you can unlock while playing.
You might recall from last year that Return to Wight Chapel was the last entry to feature voice acting. However, the removal of voice acting means Wyrmwood will be the largest entry in the series to date, with nearly 1000 unique scenes to encounter based on your choices.
Fans can look forward to exploring this new adventure when The Hunter’s Journals – Wyrmwood comes out on October 31!
