Last Halloween, GOG.com announced the addition of Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth to its store.
There was much rejoicing among horror fans, because not only did this provide a DRM-free option for Dark Corners of the Earth, but the GOG version fixed many of the issues present in the Steam version.
Unfortunately, the game was removed from GOG due to a takedown request:
“A takedown request for “Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth” has been received and is being handled under GOG’s copyright policy. We hope the game will be back in GOG’s offer soon, but at the moment we cannot give you any other details or timeline.”
Nothing has been said since then.
It’s a frustrating situation, especially since Dark Corners of the Earth had improvements over the ever-crashing Steam version. Whether it has to do with community patches being included in the game or something else, we hope to see it return.
(An official fix for the Steam version would also be nice, but that seems quite unlikely at this point.)
What do you think? Will GOG work out the issues and put Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth on sale again?
Update: Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is back up!
