Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game is an RPG from Cyanide and Focus Home Entertainment planned to release later this year. It is inspired by both Lovecraft’s work and the 1981 Call of Cthulhu RPG.
Set in the 1920s, it follows an investigator named Edward Pierce as he looks into a mysterious death at a place called Darkwater Island.
It is supposed to feature investigation, horror, and stealth elements within an RPG. A 5-minute gameplay trailer surfaced last week, so let’s take a look.
(Note: this is uncut B-roll footage that wasn’t meant to be shown, so keep that in mind while watching.)
The video gives a good glimpse into the investigative gameplay, as well as a look at the RPG elements. It seems like you’ll be able to unlock various skills and perks. Finally, the sequence at the ends hints at the horror side.
Are you looking forward to the new Call of Cthulhu game?
