After learning about the upcoming video game based on the Mansions of Madness board game, I got in touch with Asmodee Digital to learn more about Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace.
According to the Steam page for Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace, it is an adventure game. What will the gameplay be like? Is it a point-and-click game, or will it use a different gameplay style?
In Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace, players will lead a team of investigators through an eerie mansion while uncovering its dark secrets. You will explore the Mansion, resolve various puzzles… so it is more an action and exploration game rather than just a point-and-click game.
How will the video game tie in with the Mansions of Madness board game series? Should players unfamiliar with the board game check it out beforehand?
Not at all! Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace provides the best backdrop we could possibly ask for, but casual fans and even people who have never play the board game will find a lot to love in the gameplay and the presentation. This game is a brand-new experience, based on the board game success (atmosphere, investigation, Lovecraft…).
I noticed that the description of the game on the LuckyHammers website mentions Miskatonic University. Does this mean it is set within Lovecraft’s universe rather than just drawing inspiration from it?
Yes as the board game Mansions of Madness is completely set within Lovecraft’s universe, it is the same with Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace.
Will insanity be a part of the gameplay?
Totally…
The screenshots show multiple characters. Will the player be able to switch between them at will?
Yes, as we said earlier, the player will lead a team of investigators and will be able to switch.
If this game is a success, do you anticipate more video games in the Mansions of Madness franchise?
We hope so!
Finally, is there anything else you’d like to share about Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace?
Yes, we have worked a lot on this game to offer a complementary experience to the board game, to offer a never-told-before Lovecraftian investigation in the Mansions of Madness universe. We want to take risks to elevate the genre and look forward to bringing the IP to life in a new way, and to a broader audience.
Puzzles, exploration, and insanity! That sounds good to me. I’m glad I had this chance to learn more about Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace.
