During the Guerrilla Collective showcase, we got to see Source of Madness, an upcoming “dark action roguelite” in which you must survive against the hordes of ever-changing monsters that plague the land.

According to the official press release, the monsters themselves are procedural and generated by machine learning AI. On each playthrough, you’ll face unique enemies. The world will change dynamically with each playthrough as well.

Although the monsters will change from playthrough to playthrough, it appears Source of Madness is directly based on Lovecraft’s stories rather than just being inspired by them, as its Steam page specifically mentions “the monsters of Lovecraft” and names R’lyeh as one of the locations you’ll explore.

Combat will include multiple classes to pick from, a wide range of magic to master, and combinations of skills and spells that allow you to customize your playstyle.

Source of Madness will be released for the Switch and PC.
